In order to save the fish living in it, Mayor Andreas Sattler (ÖVP) from St. Andrä has therefore asked sport fishermen in the area to catch the fish. The animals were moved to surrounding ponds. Around 30 tons should be fished out of the water, which is only around 20 centimeters deep.

This was achieved in June and the forecast now corresponds to the current status. Sattler estimates that only about half of the 120-hectare area is still available.
Zander and pike already died
Three tons of fish had already been fished out on Monday afternoon, according to Christoph Pölzer, fisheries control body for the Zicksee. It’s mostly carp. Zander and pike have already died, according to Pölzer these are more sensitive.
The animals were fetched from the lake by the sport fishermen from the region with nets and landing nets and then moved to the surrounding artificially created dredging ponds.
