In Austria, daily highs of well over 30 degrees are expected until at least Monday. According to the Central Institute for Meteorology and Geodynamics (ZAMG) forecast peak of up to 37 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday, however, the temperatures will drop slightly in the following days, degree by degree.
As early as Thursday, the air from the west will be significantly more susceptible to thunderstorms. In the east and south, however, largely undisturbed sunshine will prevail again, and the hot air masses will persist, especially in the Danube region and in the east, with the mugginess increasing and the heat becoming more oppressive. After early temperatures of 14 to 22 degrees, at least 25 degrees are possible in the afternoon and up to 37 degrees in the eastern lowlands and in the Graz basin.
Friday is a little more unstable. The sunny weather character predominates, but some cumulus clouds form during the day. Local thunderstorms must also be expected in the mountains. 14 to 23 degrees at the beginning of the day, 27 to 36 degrees later.
On Saturday, a fault zone with thunderstorms and showers will reach western and northern Austria during the morning hours. Everywhere else it will be quite sunny, only during the course of the day will the formation of cumulus clouds increase everywhere. By early evening at the latest, the risk of thunderstorms will also increase in the south and east. In the west, temperatures will reach a summery 23 to 29 degrees, in the east and south up to 35 degrees can still be expected.
On Sunday, after the passage of the disturbance, the Alpine region will be under the influence of a westerly upper-level current. This means that there will be brief rain showers, especially over the mountains, with generally quite sunny and again midsummer hot weather, thunderstorms are hardly ever present. The maximum values are between 27 and 34 degrees.
On Monday, temperatures throughout Austria will again rise well above 30 degrees at low altitudes. In the west, however, the likelihood of thunderstorms is already increasing in the morning, which will spread at least to the Salzkammergut over the course of the day ZAMG-Forecast.
