Batista served as Director of Internal Control and Integrityan area that receives reports of cases of sexual abuse and corruptionand his body was found dead on Tuesday night in the property located in the downtown area of Brasilia.
According to the first tests, the official would have committed suicide.
In a note, la Caixa lamented the death of Batista and promised to contribute to clarifying the case.
Sérgio Batista was one of the trusted men during the Pedro Guimarães administration who submitted his resignation at the beginning of the month after being accused by several female employees of sexual harassment.
Guimarães was succeeded by Daniella Marques Consentino who upon taking office promised to thoroughly investigate the alleged abuses of former head Guimarães, who is being investigated by the Justice.
After the fall of Guimarães, a key government collaborator, la Caixa released a note in which it admitted not having followed up on several internal complaints of harassment allegedly committed by Guimarães, an economist related to the president for years, Jair Bolsonaro.
According to the Globo News channel, the deceased Batista apparently would not have processed the complaints of sexual abuse that reached his office months ago.
For now, the investigators are going to analyze Batista’s cell phone to find out how many times and on what dates the official communicated with former President Guimarães.
