McDonald’s branch at Unionkreuzung no longer opens

Burgers have not been fried in the branch since June 1st. A spokeswoman for the group justified the permanent closure of the location at the request of OÖN with stagnant guest numbers and a “lack of growth potential”. However, the employees can continue to work in other branches in Linz, assures Jessica Schreckenfuchs-Vallant. The burger chain will now start a “modernization offensive” at other branches in the state capital. By when this should be completed was not communicated when asked.

The McDonald’s at Unionkreuzung was well known and popular with fast food fans in Linz because of its retro chic. It was opened in November 1996 and only renovated in 2014 – the latter, however, did not lead to the desired growth in visitor numbers. On the other hand, this should happen at the other locations in Bürgerstraße, Taubenmarkt and Lentia City in the future.
