It’s a poignant and shocking image that shakes the world and illustrates the gruesome reality of the suffering caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine: it shows a desperate father next to the lifeless body of his son, only 13, who died in a Russian missile attack on Kharkiv on Wednesday.

Since the beginning of the war, Russian bombs have killed at least 349 Ukrainian children. Moscow continues to deny that its forces deliberately target civilians.

The boy, whose name has not been released, was at a bus stop in the center of Kharkov when a Russian rocket hit a nearby mosque.
