According to police reports on Friday, the tractor and the trailer loaded with 25 breeding bulls had numerous defects. The 55-year-old driver from the Lilienfeld district is reported to the Amstetten district authority for various administrative violations.
The team was stopped Wednesday morning as part of a priority operation. In addition to an overload of almost 1,000 kilograms and violations of the regulations on driving and rest times, various violations of the provisions of the Animal Transport Act were also found. Among other things, the minimum size of the prescribed floor area was not complied with.
The bulls were to be transported from various breeding farms in the St. Pölten district to an EU slaughterhouse in Linz. Because the team had been shut down due to imminent danger, the animals were reloaded onto a truck and the bulls were transported onward in this way.
