Almost 1,500 people – 1,496 to be exact – are currently being treated in hospital. Of these, 80 people have to be treated in intensive care, the Ministry of Health and the Interior reported on Friday. 11,115 new infections were added within 24 hours. Ten people died from or with Covid-19. The number of SARS-CoV-2 positive people who have to be treated in hospital has increased by 26 patients within one day. The number of intensive care patients has remained the same since Thursday, but increased by two people within a week. Ten more deaths have been added in the past 24 hours, which is why, according to the Ministry’s figure, 18,977 people have died from or with Corona since the pandemic began. According to the AGES census, this number already amounts to 20,226.
The 11,115 new infections within one day were just below the average for the past seven days (11,705). The seven-day incidence therefore fell from 928.8 to 912.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The federal state with the highest seven-day incidence is currently Vienna with 1,284.7, followed by Lower Austria, Salzburg and Burgenland (972.9, 863.7 and 852.1 respectively). Then come Upper Austria (813), Vorarlberg (798), Styria (713.7), Carinthia (690.1) and Tyrol (642.1).
Only 36 cases were added to the actively infected, which is why this number increased to 128,711. The positive rate of the PCR tests fell from 16.8 to 9.9 percent. In the past 24 hours, 118,841 rapid PCR and antigen tests were reported, of which 112,431 were meaningful PCR tests. The number of absolute new infections within 24 hours is highest in Vienna with 2,952 cases. This is followed by Lower Austria with 2,479, Upper Austria with 1,780, Styria with 1,251, Salzburg with 729, Tyrol with 618, Carinthia with 509, Vorarlberg with 424 and Burgenland with 373 new cases.
An infected person currently infects around 1.03 other people with SARS-CoV-2 in this country. The effective number of reproductions calculated by AGES and TU Graz has remained the same as in the previous week.
Since the beginning of the pandemic there have already been 4,669,240 confirmed cases in Austria. Since then, 4,521,552 people have recovered.
