The plane landed in Schwechat with a delay of one and a half hours. On the tarmac, the ÖFB selection, which had also made it into the knockout phase at the second European Championship participation, was received by Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler and Susanne Raab, Federal Minister for Women, Family, Integration and Media.
The ÖFB leadership around President Gerhard Milletich was also there. In short speeches, Kogler, Raab and Milletich acknowledged the achievements in England and expressed the hope that the next ÖFB chapter of success will be written in Australia and New Zealand next summer. The World Cup will take place there in 2023, Austria has never been represented. In order to get a ticket, however, the difficult qualifying play-off must still be mastered.
Austria lost 2-0 to Germany in the quarter-finals on Thursday evening.
The players are now only returning to their clubs very sporadically, a large delegation of successful ÖFB players will soon be enjoying a short holiday together on the Italian Adriatic.
