In the coming school year, however, significantly more parents want to send their offspring to school again. According to a broadcast by the Education Directorate in Upper Austria, 822 compulsory school students are to be taught at home at the request of their parents. The number of de-registered is still significantly higher than before, but “we are pleased with the positive trend,” says education officer and LH deputy Christine Haberlander (VP). She gives advice to those parents who have withdrawn their children from school: “One should always bear in mind that this means that important social contacts are being taken away from the pupils and that they are disadvantaged by withdrawing from school lessons.”
Education director Alfred Klampfer also sees the decline in cancellations as “a positive sign”.
Everyone at the schools would work to “make it easier for returning students to get back into the game.”
