Kensington Palace released a photo of the third in line to the British throne on a beach in Britain to celebrate his anniversary. As is often the case, his mother, Duchess Kate, took the photo.
Kate and Prince William’s eldest son (both 40) has been seen in public for the past few months. He had attended several events on the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s throne (96) alongside his parents, his sister Charlotte (7) and his brother Louis (4).
However, experts consider it unlikely that he will be much more in the public eye in the future. “Both the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have made it clear that they want their children to have as normal a childhood as possible,” says monarchy expert Craig Prescott.
Off for the shorts
It will be a long time before George sits on the British throne. The “Times” has calculated that it could easily take up to the year 2072 or even longer before Prince George is crowned – his father William would then have reached his 90th birthday.
Attentive observers have long been pointing out how little Prince George is gradually becoming a big boy – at least in terms of the wardrobe: the short shorts – worn by the offspring of the British upper class in almost any weather – are slowly being replaced at official appearances by the exchanged long suit trousers.
