Turkey, Sweden and Finland will meet in August to review the commitments made by the two Scandinavian countries at the recent NATO summit, on which Ankara’s veto over its entry into the alliance depends.
The high-ranking meeting “will be the first in a monitoring committee” to follow up on the “agreement signed last month,” Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told TRT Haber.
The announcement of the talks comes after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned this week that he could reactivate his country’s veto on Sweden and Finland joining NATO, as lifting the measure remains “conditional.”
