For the participants from Upper Austria, a highly successful fire brigade world championships in Celje, Slovenia, came to an end at the weekend. After their journey home, they were welcomed by cheering and proud fans in their home communities on Sunday.
A sensational triumph was achieved on Friday in the traditional men’s competition: The delegation from FF St. Martin took first place and thus defended the world championship title from 2017. FF Hinterschiffl took second place right behind them, resulting in a double victory. More about this in the video:

The youth group from Waldneukirchen was also very happy: they won bronze in the youth competition. The girls’ group Mitteregg/Haagen/Sand came fifth in their category. In the women’s category, Julbach achieved the highest rating among the Upper Austrian participants with seventh place. Another Upper Austrian success on the last day of the competition: Frankenburg was voted Vice World Champion in the sports competitions.
Robert Mayer, fire brigade president and state fire brigade commander of Upper Austria, is pleased with the successes in a broadcast by the Federal Fire Brigade Association: “The top sporting performances in extreme heat have made it clear that Austria’s fire brigades are particularly strong and enduring in an international comparison. Congratulations on these successes! “
