After a very successful start to the season with a 2-2 win over the two-man team from Rapid Vienna, the next difficult task awaits SK BMD Versehr Steyr on Friday from 6:10 p.m.: Daniel Madlener’s team will play against the Young Bulls from Liefering in Grödig. The 17-year-old U17 national player Mario Pejazic, who was born in Steyr, is also new to the Salzburg talent pool. The left-back started playing football in the youth youth team and then came to the Salzburg Bulls Academy via LASK and Liefering. Pejazic made his second division debut over 90 minutes in a 2-2 win against the Young Violets a week ago.
Forward still wants to spoil his former talent’s home premiere: “We want to go onto the pitch with energy and fire and we have a lot of confidence. But it needs a top performance,” says Madlener.
The Red-Whites don’t have good memories of the most recent duel with Liefering: In preparation, the team, who were only 18.1 years old on average, lost 6-0. However, the forward squad is also one of the youngest in the league at 23.1 years. Only the more than 30-year-old “seniors” trio Alberto Prada (33), Christoph Freitag (32) and Michael Lageder (31) raises the average of the Steyrer.
