Romanians smuggled kilos of marijuana into the Innviertel

The Romanian is said to have repeatedly smuggled to Spain since March last year, illegally importing at least four kilograms of marijuana, 120 grams of hashish and 45 grams of cocaine into Austria. He drove south several times a month and brought the drugs installed in his vehicle to Austria via France and Germany.

There he sold the drug to numerous buyers in the Mattighofen, Braunau, Ried im Innkreis and Simbach am Inn area. The Romanian also offered cocaine by the kilo for sale and tried to find a buyer for around ten kilograms of marijuana in the Linz area.

Caught at the border

At the beginning of June, the handcuffs finally clicked for the 45-year-old. He was caught entering the country when he tried to bring another large quantity of drugs into the country. A sniffer dog sniffed out the drug hidden in the man’s car. 900 grams of marijuana, 120 grams of hashish and 20 grams of cocaine were seized.

The accused confessed during his interrogation, the police said on Thursday afternoon. According to his own statements, he sold the addictive substances to finance his livelihood. He was taken to the Ried prison.
