Tough weeks for ice hockey fans in the Slovak capital Bratislava: The club has to be dissolved due to financial problems. The Capitals announced this on Thursday evening on their social channels.

“A few weeks ago, a negative media campaign was launched against the iClinic brand and its doctors,” the broadcast reads. It is with regret that its activities are finally terminated. The Capitals completed almost one and a half seasons in the multinational ICE Hockey League before they had to stop playing last year after two tragic deaths (player Boris Sadecky and manager Dusan Pasek). For the 2022/23 season, the return of the Slovaks was a done deal, and bank guarantees had already been given to the league. After the past few days and weeks, however, one got into financial difficulties and is now pulling the emergency brake.
