Now the key witness status of the largest domestic construction company, Strabag, is shaking. In 2021, she was fined 45.37 million euros by the cartel court for illegal price and market fixing. The fine, which has been reduced thanks to leniency witness status and cooperation with the authorities, threatens to be significantly higher: Due to new facts, the BWB wants the cartel court to examine the matter again, as the authority announced yesterday. According to industry experts, house searches are said to have taken place at a lawyer’s house beforehand.
The management of the construction group is not aware of any guilt: They cooperate extensively with the BWB, it said in a statement yesterday. The cooperation made a significant contribution to the clarification and was therefore the first company to end the antitrust proceedings with legal effect.
In the spring of 2017, the BWB began investigating possible illegal price fixing in the construction industry.
