The new regulations provide for employees who have tested positive to also be used in nursing care – the clients are mostly older people in need of care and very often people with illnesses, Bodmann reminded in a broadcast on Saturday. “Groups of people in whom Corona can lead to serious consequences and, in the worst case, death,” said Bodmann. “It is and remains our responsibility to continue to protect people who have confided in us as best we can from infection.”
Neither comprehensible nor realizable
In view of the consequences, the new regulations are neither comprehensible nor justifiable, let alone implementable. It is simply not feasible to use employees who have tested positive and at the same time to take sensible safety precautions. The regulation that infected, symptom-free paramedics should continue to be employed in the rescue service, but their deployment is de facto impossible due to the ban on entering hospitals, is also incomprehensible.
Complete misunderstanding
Bodmann emphasized that the proposed procedure was also met with a complete lack of understanding among the nursing and care staff. On the one hand, they did not want to endanger those in need of care, on the other hand, despite appropriate protective measures, infections could also occur in the workforce. That would further exacerbate the existing shortage of staff. Politicians must create regulations that prevent employers from bearing the full risk, Bodmann demanded.
