The seven-day incidence fell to 649.4 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 898.2 last Saturday. There are currently 110,414 active cases in Austria, a decrease of 21 percent within one week and 4,426 fewer than yesterday Friday – a week ago 128,478 active cases were reported.
In total, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 19,095 lives in Austria since it broke out. 211.5 people per 100,000 inhabitants have died from or with Covid-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
Of the 66,804 rapid PCR and antigen tests reported in the past 24 hours, 61,592 were more meaningful PCR tests with a positive rate of 10.7 percent, the weekly average is currently 9.4 percent.
The number of vaccinations has risen significantly: last Friday 3,877 vaccinations were carried out, yesterday there were 10,215, of which 8,139 were booster vaccinations (4th, 5th and every further vaccination dose). According to the recommendation of the National Vaccination Committee (NIG), 5,422,670 people and thus 60.1 percent of Austrians are currently validly vaccinated.
