Again up to 37 degrees: Next heat wave is rolling

If Monday starts with a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius, the thermometer will show up to 37 degrees again by Friday. There will also be local showers and thunderstorms.

Sun and clouds change and the chance of showers is already high on Monday. In the morning these local showers are mostly limited to the mountains on the north side of the Alps, in the afternoon they are possible everywhere. Vorarlberg is likely to stay dry, but there will be thunderstorms in the evening hours. The wind blows moderately, in the area of the Vienna Woods also briskly from the west. After early values of ten to 19 degrees, there are maximum values of 24 to 30 degrees.

With a north-westerly high flow, it is still unstable during the day on Tuesday, especially in the eastern half of the country. In the west it will be dry all day with increasing air pressure, otherwise some cumulus clouds will develop in the still unstable air and some rain showers and thunderstorms are possible from midday, especially in the mountains and generally in the south and south-east. The wind blows weakly from mostly westerly directions. The temperatures reach after 13 and 19 degrees in the morning then in the afternoon 26 and 31 degrees.

With the influence of high pressure, the sun will shine widely on Wednesday. In the afternoon, some cumulus clouds will form in the mountains and generally in the east, but only a few local rain showers are to be expected here. It will remain dry in most of the country. The wind blows weakly from northeast to southeast. Eleven to 19 degrees at the beginning of the day are followed by maximum daily temperatures of 27 to 33 degrees, with the highest values in the west.

High air pressure will also determine the weather on Thursday and hot air masses will again be directed towards Austria from the south-west. The sun often shines undisturbed over long distances. Only in the course of the afternoon do the cumulus clouds over the western mountains become more powerful and the chance of thunderstorms increases significantly here. Elsewhere it will remain sunny and stable. The wind will be weak to moderate from southeast to southwest. Early temperatures of 13 to 20 degrees are followed by maximum daily temperatures of 29 to 35 degrees.

At the front of a cold front over Germany, the chance of thunderstorms will increase significantly everywhere in the afternoon on Friday. The morning will mostly bring sunny weather, but then more and more high-reaching cumulus clouds and sometimes heavy thunderstorms will form. The risk of thunderstorms during the day is lowest in the eastern lowlands. The wind turns more and more to the west during the day and often blows moderately apart from thunderstorm gusts. After 14 to 21 degrees in the morning hours, there are only around 26 degrees in the west, but 37 degrees in the east of the country.
