Mayor Anton Hüttmayr had switched off the street lighting for the whole month of May – under the motto: “Reminder – Think – Feel”. “In the month of August we want to switch off the street lighting again,” announces the village manager.
Hüttmayr is concerned with more than just symbolism. “Especially as a municipality, we are close to the people and can implement ideas quickly,” says the mayor of Puchkirch, who is focusing on more transparency in communication with the population. “Time is of the essence: energy-saving measures must be implemented quickly.”
There is no alternative to the energy lifeline for our well-being. Only the savings effect is sustainable, and this must be long-term, says Hüttmayr, who is pleased that other communities are now imitating the Puchkirchner way and switching off the street lighting.
The mayor is also proud of the photovoltaic systems installed in Puchkirchen. Hüttmayr has announced an energy self-sufficient sewage treatment plant in the Trattberg municipality for autumn.
