JUBU Performance GmbH, based in Münzbach, has entered into a prominent PS partnership. None other than the 2009 Formula 1 World Champion, Jenson Button, has the engine and transmission for his exclusive super sports car series “Radford Lotus” developed and produced in the Mühlviertel.
JUBU Managing Director Martin Jung explains how the collaboration with the Radford Motor Company came about: “We have been investing heavily in research and development for years, have set up our own development center and fortunately have an excellent and highly motivated team of mechanics, engineers and designers. Two years ago, our first fully in-house developed racing car, the JP ZERO GT2, caused an international stir. Ultimately, the Radford team around Jenson Button approached us.”
A month ago, the first Radford P62-2 with JUBU drive unit celebrated its public premiere at the renowned “Goodwood Festival of Speed” in southern England. Button drove his sports car several times over the four days in front of an enthusiastic audience. Martin Jung’s heart also laughed: “The project has now been running for a year and a half. That’s why we were very confident that everything would work out at the first public event – but of course there’s always a certain tingling feeling.”
How much the car with the 600 hp heart from Münzbach conquered the hearts of the 200,000 fans was shown when the “Michelin Showstopper Award” was presented to the public at the end of the weekend. So the best motivation for the team from Münzbach, which is currently carrying out the last durability tests and preparing for series production. The first customer vehicle is to be handed over in California in the autumn.
The Radford Lotus P62-2 is not the only development project by JUBU engineers. However, most are subject to strict confidentiality. “We are a compact team of designers, have lean structures and can act very quickly. That is why manufacturers rely on our services. We often come into play when there is a need for a rapid solution to problems that have unexpectedly arisen in a project,” says Martin Jung. Because the list of customer inquiries is constantly growing, the company is expanding at a remarkable pace: “We are intensively looking for new talent to be able to meet this demand”.
