“The best was brought out of an oversized project – not least thanks to the participation of the citizens,” says Ansfelden’s FP Mayor Christian Partoll. Because the municipal council has now decided to change the land use plan and change the local development concept for the so-called commercial area Audorf Southeast.
As OÖN readers know, this rededication was highly controversial. “The originally planned project was also monstrous,” says Partoll, who had called for more public participation last year. Which now also took place, “we wrote to over 6000 citizens personally and also held some information events. And in coordination with the citizens’ initiative, the project was adapted,” says Partoll.
The result is that the entire project, in which Beinkofer tiles, Velvety Manufaktur and FE Business Park Ansfelden will settle east of the Kika in several stages from 2023, has been downsized and the construction heights reduced, and a green wall will also shield the housing estate. “The citizens will also have a say in the planting,” emphasizes the mayor. The illuminated advertising towers, which had also caused a stir, are reduced and only illuminated towards the motorway. In addition, photovoltaic systems will be installed on 20 percent of the roof areas, the remaining roof areas must be greened, says Christian Partoll.
Who admits that despite all the improvements, one issue remains open: traffic. “Although an e-car sharing program is planned for the companies, we still have to come up with something for the traffic to relieve the local residents. We are already in talks with the state of Upper Austria and the city of Linz. After all, a lot of people from the south of Linz drive through Freindorf onto the autobahn.”
