Last Thursday, a worker from the Peruvian Congress denounced the legislator, Alliance for Progress (APP), for a rape crime.
“Today the National Aurora Program of the Women’s Ministry provided emotional support and legal attention to a woman who reported having been a victim of rape by Congressman Freddy Díaz Monago. We are treating the victim. We urge the Prosecutor’s Office to act quickly in the case,” the ministry published on its social networks.
The victim said that the attack occurred in a congressman’s office, when they were drinking alcohol while discussing labor issues. After that, taking advantage of her unconscious state, the parliamentarian raped her, her employee denounced.
The woman woke up with traces of sexual abuse, such as burning in her genitals and her torn clothes.
After the case was made public, the party in which Díaz Monago is a member announced his immediate expulsion.
“Given the serious complaint filed against Congressman Fredy Díaz Monago for the crime of rape, the APP caucus has decided to expel him immediately. We request the rapid intervention of the Attorney General’s Office and the Judiciary,” he said in a statement.
