From August 5th to 7th, the rural youth will carry out this year’s federal decision in the agricultural and culinary Olympics in the agricultural technical school in Vöcklabruck. The best of the best from all over Austria will shine with their agricultural expertise in the Agricultural Olympics or put their food and consumer knowledge to the test in the Gourmet Olympics.
The rural youth of Upper Austria is represented at the Pleasure Olympics by the LJ Schildorn (Ried district), LJ Weißkirchen (Wels-Land) and LJ St. Florian-Niederneukirchen (Linz-Land). Teams from the Salzkammergut are also at the start of the Agricultural Olympics: the LJ Vorchdorf (Gmunden district) with Christian Kronberger and Tobias Kronberger, the LJ Frankenmarkt and the LJ St. Georgen im Attergau (Vöcklabruck district) with Wolfgang Seiringer and Simon Kletzl; the LJ Sarleinsbach (Rohrbach district) completes the Upper Austrian squad.
As part of the federal decision, two farms will be visited on Friday afternoon. While the participants in the Agricultural Olympics visit the Köttl fish farm in Neukirchen an der Vöckla, the teams in the Gourmet Olympics can get to know the Neuhuber herb farm in Schlatt. Then it is important to call up the knowledge learned during the visits at the theory stations.
After the opening evening in the Stehrerhof open-air museum, the further course of the competition takes place on Saturday in the LFS Vöcklabruck. The team that masters the complex knowledge questions with flying colors and shines in the practical tasks and the difficult skill stations is then ceremoniously chosen as the national winner.
