Since August 1, all fees have been waived for people who regularly receive their driving license for a limited period due to health problems. Previously, 49.50 euros had to be paid for each extension.
This means that the same regulation has now been made for driving license classes A and B that previously applied to classes C and D. The cost waiver also applies to applications that were submitted before August 1 and have not yet been completed.
The exemption from fees applies to every time limit justified by health reasons, regardless of whether the person concerned is to blame for the reason for the time limit. This is to avoid lengthy evidentiary procedures.
Those affected must continue to bear the costs for medical examinations and reports themselves. In addition, a reimbursement of costs will be charged in the future, the exact amount must first be calculated. However, it should be around EUR 12.40, similar to that for classes C and D.
“The ÖAMTC has been demanding the adjustment to the other classes for a long time. The legislator has now followed this requirement,” says ÖAMTC lawyer Martin Hoffer.
