Cyclists in Schladming knocked down by a stranger

The perpetrator hit the man so brutally that the victim suffered several broken bones. As reported by the Styrian State Police Headquarters on Tuesday, the cyclist from Southeast Styria was apparently attacked for no reason. The search for the escaped attacker was initially unsuccessful.

From the homeless environment?

The Styrian was traveling with his wife on the Ennsradweg (R7) in the direction of Schladming at around 4.40 p.m. when he was torn off the bike by the man. As the victim lay on the ground, the perpetrator violently beat him. The wife came to help, but was unable to do anything about the aggressiveness of the attacker. Finally, the stranger fled on foot into the adjacent forest in the direction of Mandling. He should come from the homeless milieu: the police found a tent and a trolley in the vicinity. The seriously injured cyclist was taken to the Schladming hospital.

The immediately initiated search, in which several police patrols, service dog patrols and a police helicopter took part, was unsuccessful. The wanted man is said to be around 1.75 meters tall and very slim. He was wearing grey-brown work trousers with large side pockets and a long-sleeved shirt of the same color, as well as a green baseball cap. He was also carrying a very large green hiking backpack and is said to have been wearing black boots and gray plastic work gloves. Information is received from the Schladming Police Inspectorate on 059/133-6356.
