The lunar journey should last 4 and a half monthsand the first communication between the probe and the station on Earth is scheduled for an hour after launch.
The Danuri -an expression composed of the Korean words “moon” and “enjoy”– was launched on a Falcon 9 rocket by the American aerospace company SpaceXof Elon Musk.
During his mission, Danuri will use six different instruments, such as a highly sensitive camera -provided by the POT– to make research on the lunar surface and identify possible arrival points for future missions.
Danuri will also try to develop an environment of wireless internet to link satellites or exploration spacecraft. And to test the network, the probe will transmit the song “dynamite” korean band bts.
South Korean scientists say that Danuri, built in seven yearswill pave the way for South Korean goal of putting a probe on the Moon by 2030.
