Shortly before 7:30 a.m. today, an employee of a municipal company found an eight-centimeter throwing grenade, two practice grenades for anti-tank tubes and a 7.5-cm cartridge in the basement of a house on Rainerstrasse in Linz. Since it could not be ruled out that explosive objects were still involved, the road between Volksgarten and Schillerpark was closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic and the people in the object were taken out of the house.
The army demining service secured the objects and transported them away. The grenades were no longer explosive, and there was no direct danger to persons or objects. At 8.20 a.m. all measures and closures were lifted and the operation ended.
