The rare collector’s item was stolen from the car of a 40-year-old in the Linz-Land district on Sunday afternoon. The perpetrator marched with it to a jeweler in Linz the following day to inquire whether it was an original. The jewelry seller pretended not to be familiar with these models and referred the man to an expert, whom he consulted with him.
Expert was victim at the same time
What the thief didn’t know when he got in the car with the jeweler was that the jeweler was going to take him to his victim. However, because the expert was not at home, the jeweler called him immediately. While still on the phone, the expert told him that under no circumstances should he let the watch out of his hands, as such models are extremely rare and his had only been stolen the day before. Even before the expert came back, the perpetrator fled.
Perpetrators spotted at the bus stop
The thief was clearly visible on the expert’s and jeweler’s video surveillance. The police were notified – and landed another stroke of luck: at a bus stop in Leonding, a patrol noticed a man in the late afternoon who showed similarities to the person on the video recordings. During the check, the man turned out to be a 41-year-old Turkish citizen from the Linz-Land district.
found drugs
Immediately before the check, the Turk threw a glass pipe into the adjacent field, which the police officers noticed. The 41-year-old then admitted to using crystal meth. A search of the body found and seized herbal cannabis, half a joint, a grinder and a small bag with white debris. A gold ring, which the Turk had also stolen from the car, was also found and secured. The accused had fully confessed. He is shown.
