On Tuesday he signed a form for himself and caused quite a stir and photo requests with his performance on the busy Mariahilfer Strasse in Vienna. He wanted to serve the population for another six years with all his strength, commitment, composure and experience, he asked for support.

“Oh, it’s the president!” – “Really?”: The fact that the head of state walked up the popular shopping street in Vienna on Tuesday afternoon in the best summer weather surprised both tourists and locals. Van der Bellen not only had to make his way to the information stand, where his supporters try to get as many people as possible to sign, but the Federal President also had to fulfill numerous selfie requests.
The spectacle, accompanied by live music, was of course planned and desired, after all, from now on the incumbent must get at least 6,000 eligible voters to express their support for his candidacy. One of them was Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens), who immediately appeared in the media with a freshly stamped form.
Van der Bellen and his wife then made two more declarations of support themselves, which they held in front of the camera lenses in front of the “excellently organized” office building in the 6th district. “We support my candidacy,” emphasized the Federal President, expressing his hope that as many people as possible would also invest ten minutes for it.
