Volunteers trawl through the city forest for the needy

The coalition of VP, SP and List “FUFU” has launched a day of action so that after the wave of price increases in energy, homes of socially needy Waidhofners don’t stay cold in winter. On September 14, representatives from politics and administration, the fire brigade, the JOB association and other volunteers with chainsaws and axes go out to cut firewood in the city forest. “We want to lend a hand to help fellow citizens with low incomes,” says city councilor Martin Dowalil from the “FUFU” list. “We understand the fears of the affected fellow citizens,” explains Mayor Werner Krammer (VP). Anyone who wants to pick up a maximum of 2.5 cubic meters from the forest on the day of action should contact the social welfare office by e-mail post.fjs@waidhofen.at or telephone +43 7442 511 330 by September 12th, and they will check whether they are entitled to support. “Please don’t be shy!”, Deputy Mayor Armin Bahr (SP) encourages those in need, “together we will overcome emergencies.”
