Chief public prosecutor Fuchs sentenced: 72,000 euros fine

The public prosecutor had accused him of breaching official secrecy and making false statements to the Ibiza U Committee.

Fuchs got off lightly with the sentence: the maximum sentence is three years in prison. In December 2020, Fuchs is said to have passed on parts of the files relating to a planned complaint by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Economic Affairs and Corruption against a journalist to Christian Pilnacek, who has since been suspended.

Although Fuchs had admitted that the cause had been exchanged, he pleaded not guilty to the allegations. Pilnacek was summoned as a witness in court yesterday, but refused to testify. Although he had already been acquitted in the case in Vienna, disciplinary proceedings are still pending against him. Such is also the case against Fuchs, but this will only be continued once the criminal proceedings have become final.

Fuchs appealed against yesterday’s verdict, so it is not final.
