Pedro Castillo adds a sixth judicial investigation against him

This is the fifth investigation against Pedro Castillo since he assumed the presidency of Peru in July 2021.

The preliminary proceedings have a duration of up to 36 months, according to information from the newspaper El Comercio, and are related to alleged irregularities in the execution of works in Anguiain the province of Chota Y gondorin the department of Lime.

Both works, according to the complaint, would have been granted to private companies in exchange for bribes through an alleged organization that would be part of Pedro Castillo y Alvarado, Minister of Housing when the events occurred in 2021.

Related to this case they were arrested this week for inquiries Yenifer Paredessister-in-law of the president of Peru, the businessmen brothers Hugo and Anggi Espino and the mayor of Anguía (Cajamarca), José Nenil Medina.

Paredes turned himself in this Wednesday after authorities raided the Government Palace and Castillo’s house in Cajamarca looking for him.

Pedro Castillo, who has been in office for a year for which he was elected until 2026, lives under the fiscal siege for alleged corruption and the persistent siege of a Congress dominated by the right that demands his resignation.
