Young people are skeptical about the future

Young people are skeptical about the future

Although most young people in Upper Austria are basically satisfied with their current life situation, more than 60 percent of them are concerned or skeptical about the next two years. This is the result of an IMAS study in which a total of 357 young women and men aged 14 to 25 were interviewed in spring 2022.

On the occasion of today’s International Youth Day, Social Affairs Minister Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer (VP) would like to try to counteract this pessimism: “The corona pandemic, the Ukraine war and the current social situation are of particular concern to young people, who are understandably unsure about the future. All the more so more we have to approach the challenges with optimism and strengthen the voluntary structures, because every crisis also brings its opportunities.”

The topics of environment, climate protection, inclusion, digital change and the implementation of the EU youth goals are currently also of concern to Upper Austria’s youth associations. Clubs and young people who implement activities such as events, campaigns or social projects on these focal points in 2022 can apply for funding of up to 1000 euros.

Project plans can be submitted to the youth service of the state of Upper Austria for financial support until October 15th.
