Archaeological finds recently came to light during excavations in Traungasse. Where the eww group is currently building new supply networks, archaeologists came across remains of walls. The Federal Monuments Office accompanied the project with its expertise right from the start.
The experts came across a Roman wall, finds from the modern era following the Middle Ages and underground passages. The finds are documented and measured. After approval by the archaeologists, work continues on the construction site. “We hope to be able to complete the construction work as planned in the second half of September. Provided that there are no longer any longer delays due to further finds,” says eww operations manager Siegfried Kirchmeier.
The gas, water, sewage and district heating pipes on the access road to Wels town square are being renewed. In addition, new power lines and fiber optic data lines will be laid. Due to the restrictions on the town square, the construction site was postponed to the low-traffic summer.
