A 58-year-old car driver from North Macedonia drove on Thursday at around 2:26 p.m. in the left lane of the Innkreisautobahn A8 in the direction of Suben. The driver’s 32-year-old son was in the passenger seat. Probably because of microsleep, the driver of the car in Weibern came into the right lane with the car and hit the trailer of a truck that was being driven by a 43-year-old. The driver’s son, who was sleeping in the front passenger seat, was injured in the impact.
The passenger and the 58-year-old driver were taken to the Ried hospital by the rescue service and released after the end of outpatient care. The truck driver was not injured in the accident.
The vehicle recovery was carried out by the FF Aistersheim and the FF Meggenhofen. It was difficult to pass through the scene of the accident for about an hour while the accident was being investigated and the vehicle was being recovered.
