Austria’s synchronized swimmer Vasiliki Alexandri took bronze at the European Championships

At the European Championships in Rome, the 24-year-old won bronze in the technical freestyle with a personal top mark and thus ensured a virtually perfect start in the first decision with OSV participation in the Stadio Nicola Pietrangeli. Vasiliki Alexandri still has a medal chance in the free program on Sunday, her sisters Anna Maria and Eirini Marina twice as a duet.

In the morning, as the second in the preliminary competition, she confidently entered the Friday final (3:00 p.m.) in the free program, and is therefore on course for silver. With 92.6000 points, only 0.2 points were missing from the previous best score of the two-time World Championships bronze medal winners in Budapest. In the final, the two triplets will swim their program “Bosse Puppen” for the last time, and new things will be rehearsed in the new season. Training for the final touches was completed on Friday, coach Albena Mladenova still saw room for improvement.

Vasiliki Alexandri increased her personal best by more than one point and broke through the 90 mark with 90.0156 points. Mladenova then spoke of her protégé’s best competitive performance to date. Even on the podium after the rating had lit up, the two fell into each other’s arms. The native Greek started with a slight fever. At the weekend she had suffered from angina with a fever of 39.5 degrees. It was won by Ukrainian favorite Marta Fiedina (92.6394) ahead of Italy’s Linda Cerruti (90.8839).
