During a release, the prisoners observed a theft. At around 10:30 a.m., two men tried to break open the cash boxes at the Suben cemetery. The two witnesses rushed back to the nearby detention center and informed a guard who called the police.
In the meantime, the thieves fled on e-bikes. One of them, a 42-year-old German, was caught on the Inn Cycle Path in St. Florian (Schärding district). In his backpack, the officers found not only a cash box, but also an air gun and several knives. The 42-year-old was arrested and a temporary gun ban was imposed on him. He is reported at large, police said on Friday afternoon. Nothing was known about the second perpetrator.
