(Almost) everyone feels that energy prices are getting out of control. The Austrian Energy Agency published its market observation figures for households for June yesterday. Accordingly, heating oil was more than twice as expensive compared to the previous year (plus 109.6 percent).
Petrol and diesel cost almost two-thirds more. It is little consolation here that there was a recent decline of around 20 cents per liter. According to Franz Angerer, managing director of the energy agency, fuel prices are likely to remain on a plateau. On average, end consumers had to pay 52.7 percent more for wood pellets and 33.9 percent more for firewood. District heating got off comparatively lightly with an increase of 16.6 percent; This is also because some increases are still pending.
Gas cost an average of 72.1 percent more. However, electricity was already so expensive that the increase compared to 2021 was only 0.2 percent. This is also because the green electricity subsidy has been canceled and the electricity fee reduced in order to relieve consumers. In total, the increases across all divisions accounted for 45 percent. (haase)
