A happy song on the edge of subsistence level

A happy song on the edge of subsistence level

Panting from one audition to the next, patiently accepting almost every humiliation of directors and producers in order to live their dream: four unemployed musical actors whose lives cross in a desolate AMS waiting room.

At first, envy of bread, distrust and social Darwinism dominate the scene. But the more the “fruit dwarf” (Anja Hrauda), the prologue (Stefan Ried), the slut (Cordula Feuchtner) and the former child star (Oliver Hebeer) reveal about themselves and their dreams, the more masochism and mare biting give way to mutual empathy. At the end comes the realization that art cannot be managed, but wants to be brought to the stage with passion.

Christian Böhm stages his own “A (typical musical story)” as a musical revue with almost 20 songs – mostly well-known hits with lyrics adapted to the piece. A variety that entertains, but also helps the not very broad arc of the story over time. The four actors, especially the shrill Anja Hrauda, were in the best of hands at the premiere.

In their fourth season as a summer theater ensemble, the “ArtWorkers” – not surprising given the difficult pandemic environment – have not yet been able to gain a foothold in Grein, which could explain the sparse attendance at the premiere. But the same applies here: If you want to achieve a goal, you need perseverance. (live)
