After almost 19 million corona vaccinations had been administered in Austria, 1400 people submitted such an application. According to the Ministry of Health, seven applications have been approved by notification. Five people were awarded a lump sum payment averaging €1,580 and two received a fixed-term pension averaging €900. They developed significant health problems, such as heart muscle inflammation or thrombosis.
From the first corona vaccinations on December 27, 2020 to July 22, the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG), which registers vaccination side effects, received 51,026 reports of suspected side effects in temporal connection with the vaccination.

The majority of these reports related to typical vaccination reactions as described in clinical studies during the approval process: headache, fever, tiredness or pain at the injection site. Most reports were for AstraZeneca’s vaccine (12.01 per 1000 injections), BioNTech/Pfizer least (1.67 per 1000 injections).
