There were also 1,270 infected people in the hospitals, 52 fewer than the day before – however, the decline only affects Vienna, all other federal states reported the same occupancy rate as on Friday, as they had on the past weekends. 72 corona patients were cared for in intensive care units. This number has fallen by ten since the previous day, also only due to reports from Vienna. 79 deaths have been registered in the past seven days. Overall, the Covid 19 pandemic has claimed 19,273 lives in Austria, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior and Health. According to AGES data, however, there are already 20,498 Covid deaths.
PCR positive rate at 10.1 percent
There were 163 new infections in Burgenland, 437 in Carinthia and 1,194 in Lower Austria. Upper Austria reported 713 further infections, Salzburg 194 and Styria 577. 294 positive tests were reported in Tyrol, 159 in Vorarlberg and 1,747 in Vienna. Of the 53,979 most recent PCR tests carried out in Austria, 10.1 percent were positive.
Since the beginning of the pandemic there have been 4,820,764 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases in Austria. 4,725,003 people have had one or more infections, and 7,174 were considered free of the virus within the past 24 hours. As of Saturday, there were 76,488 active cases in the country, down 1,712 from the day before.
