A spokesman for the Eisenstadt public prosecutor’s office said the Russian citizen was being investigated for smuggling in a criminal organization and multiple negligent homicides and bodily harm under particularly dangerous circumstances.
In the meantime, four of the 17 injured have been released from hospital treatment, said police spokesman Helmut Marban on Sunday. The Syrian citizens applied for asylum. Due to the severity of the injuries and the division into several hospitals in four federal states, it was not yet possible to finally determine the identity of the other accident victims.
