LASK defended the lead in the table – 2:1 against Rapid

LASK President Siegmund Gruber said goodbye to Vice President Helmut Oberndorfer, who died a week ago, even before kick-off. “They’re playing for you today,” he concluded his speech, which was not followed by a minute’s silence but by long applause. Because of the sad occasion, the LASK sponsors gave up their places on the black dress, only the words “Thank you, Heli” were printed.

LASK played big and ended the negative series against Rapid. The last nine times in a row there was no win against the Viennese – each time against coach Dietmar Kühbauer. The Burgenlander ended the wait at his first opportunity as a LASK trainer.

Goiginger scored the lead

Marin Ljubicic, who had scored six goals in the first two rounds, initiated the first chance with the heel assist for Keito Nakamura, the Japanese shot was blocked (7th). After the second opportunity again on the left side it was 1:0: Rene Renner played the half-high Stanglpass, Peter Michorl, after the suspension had expired, replaced Hyun-seok Hong, who had been sold to Gent, as the only newcomer in the starting eleven, touched the first pole Ball, behind Thomas Goiginger completed with a header. Debut of Celic

From the 82nd minute, access Nemanja Celic made his debut for the athletes. With the final whistle, Rapid scored the goal through Marco Grüll (93′). That didn’t spoil the mood: LASK ended the negative series against Rapid and is still at the top of the Bundesliga after the fourth round.
