The Russian military attacked residential areas across Ukraine last night, Ukrainian officials said, when Ukrainian forces launched a counteroffensive, striking the last active bridge across a river in Russian-occupied Kherson region.
The mayor of the city, which serves as the headquarters for Ukrainian forces in the country’s east, said the Russian attack on Kramatorsk on Friday night killed three people and wounded 13 others.
The Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday that its forces had taken control of Peski, a village on the outskirts of Donetsk, the regional capital that has been claimed by pro-Moscow separatists since 2014. The Ukrainian authorities denied this information.
