The 27th Mühlbacher Ortsrundenlauf was also not for weak legs. With perfect running weather and a good atmosphere, Herbert Schörkhuber and his team organized an all-round successful running festival in Mühlbachtal over the weekend.
For the men, a strong quartet consisting of defending champion Martin Pötz, Michael Bramberger, Florian Böhm and local hero Markus Schreiner took the lead from the start. In the third of a total of five laps, Michael Bramberger (Laufwunder Steyr) picked up the pace and ended up winning the nine kilometers in a time of 33:32.35. Florian Böhm (Union Rohrbach) and Martin Pötz (LAC) followed. In the women’s category, Julia Ecker’s victory was safe: she left the competition standing and won with a one-minute lead over her club colleagues Manuela Geiblinger and Martina Leitenbauer (all LAC Steyr).
Husband Andreas Ecker didn’t want to be left behind and clearly won the hobby class (5400 meters). Markus Schreiner secured the club championship crown for the fourth time en suite with a personal best performance.
Not only the runners gave their all, but also the singers: the pop music parade in the marquee really got going. Silvia Hampel conquered the Golden Microphone with “99 balloons”. (dmf)
