In a statement on social media, the club members justify this with high electricity costs on the one hand and social responsibility on the other. The statement says, among other things: “Since the club was founded, we have seen it as our duty not only to take on sporting but also social responsibility.” This has been done for years, supporting social initiatives and, above all, bringing the ice skating rink to the town square. According to the statement, the current energy crisis makes it “unfortunately impossible for the club to run the ice rink this winter. It would not only be a shot in the foot financially, but from our point of view it is above all irresponsible to cool an area when everyone else is in the mood at the same time of the solidarity community are called upon to save energy.” The Curling Club hopes for your understanding and that the popular ice rink will return in the 2023/24 winter season.
