Android 13 is now available as an upgrade for Google Pixel smartphones (Pixel 4 and higher). If you use a cell phone from another manufacturer, you first have to be patient. The most important changes at a glance:
- Media playback: The media player (see photo below) now has a uniform design for smartphones and tablets. The display is based on Android TV or Android Auto.
- Individualization in color design: With the advanced “Material You” theme, the color of the various app icons can be dynamically adjusted. Specifically, the icons adapt to the color of the respective screen background.
- Language settings for individual apps: Android 13 users can choose different languages for their apps. The language in an app no longer has to be identical to the language set system-wide.
- Advanced Copy & Paste: Text and media can now be copied from one Android device and pasted into another.
- Privacy and Security: Selecting photos to share has been refined. Specifically, the various apps should no longer have access to the entire photo and video library if the user does not want it. Notifications have also been restricted: apps must ask the user whether they can send notifications.
