For many classic car enthusiasts, the Landl Rally in Meggenhofen is a must-attend event every year. After the anniversary rally in 2019, at which the 30th anniversary was celebrated, Corona slowed down the event in the two following years. The dry spell is now over: Owners of rarities from automotive history will meet again from August 19th to 21st on the old vicarage grounds. Several thousand visitors are expected over the weekend.
“Almost all of the 120 starting places for the rally on Saturday were taken last week,” says organizer Josef Mallinger. The participants drive to Rüstorf to the Hütthaler Musterhof and to Neukirchen an der Vöckla to the Stehrerhof open-air museum. This year, the proceeds from the entry fees will go to the Synapse Gallspach, an assista facility for people with acquired brain damage.
The coveted spots in the Pfarrhofgarten are reserved for Jaguar models this year, as 2022 is all about the big cat and the 100th anniversary of the British cult brand. The cornerstone for the success story was laid in 1922 by William Lyons in Blackpool. “100 years of motorcycle history” will also be presented in Meggenhofen.
The traditional start is on Friday with the garden party from 3 p.m. and the Jaguar, Maserati, Mercedes and BMW club meetings. On Saturday, the rally drivers will start every minute from 9.31 a.m., the award ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. This year, the special “Period Dress” prize will again be awarded to those who dress in a particularly stylish manner to match the year of manufacture of the vehicle. On Sunday, the traditional service in the marquee and the morning pint follow. Deacon Andreas Hagler blesses the vehicles.
A proven team of around 100 volunteers will take care of the physical well-being of classic car fans.
