Long requested, announced for a long time, now apparently shortly before the realization: The city senate will probably give its consent to the live stream of the municipal council meetings on Thursday.
The corresponding application is made by Mayor Klaus Luger (SP). 18,000 euros will be necessary for the live stream, for which an automated solution is sought, it is said. This is to be implemented for the upcoming municipal council on September 22nd. Luger hopes that this offer will be accepted by the citizens. It would be good if the people of Linz could follow discussions about demands and applications in the municipal council. Finally, the municipal councils would decide “central and trend-setting demands and work processes”.
The Committee for Economy, Innovation and Constitution also dealt with the publication of applications for individual agenda items with brief summaries. This is intended to ensure more open and understandable communication to the outside world. However, the publication takes place in compliance with official secrecy, data protection and the provisions of public procurement law.
For many years, there has been a political discussion about the topic of live broadcasting of municipal council meetings in the city. Initially demanded by the Greens, the other parties have gradually been able to make friends with it.
